Posted by Franklin County Archers on May 10, 2016 at 3:35 AM Comments comments (0)

Remember next Sunday (15 May) is the 1st round of the interclub series (you should all have got an email with the registration details). This will be held at the Thames Valley Deerstalkers club, which is at Morrison Road Paeroa. The series is designed as a fun series for all to shoot and we need as many members as possible as all points will count towards the winning club for the series. This is 2x20 target rounds, registration from 8-9am, with the shooting starting soon after.

CLUB CHAMPS + AGM

Posted by Franklin County Archers on April 18, 2016 at 1:35 AM Comments comments (0)

On Sunday 08th May at 10am the club will be holding our AGM and the club champs. If you want to have a well organised club that meets your needs then it is vital that you get involved and turn up to the AGM.

Following the AGM the club champs  will be held. This will be a handicap format that takes into account your shooting experience, so anyone has the chance of winning. All of the division winners will then go into a shootout for the club championship trophy

Competitions Calendar Updated

Posted by Franklin County Archers on October 24, 2015 at 2:35 PM Comments comments (0)

NZFAA have finally published a calander for 2016. I have upated our competitions calander to reflect this. Note that 2016 is very focussed on the WFAC at Wagga Wagga Austalia in Sep, so there are a lot of marked comps in the calander.

All up it looks like a pretty busy year for those competing, with 2 comp shoots each month, so lets hope you all have understanding partners

Working Bee

Posted by Franklin County Archers on September 3, 2015 at 3:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Hi all,

your archery club is planning to have a working bee on Sat 19th Sep, 9am onwards. We are wanting to repack some of the bails and clean up the rubbish that is around the course. It would be great if we could get a few more members than just the regulars as we need to have everyone involved to really make a difference in making improvements to the club and move us up to the next level. So don’t be shy and come alone. Lunch will be provided and as an added bonus there will be prizes for the kids who can pick up the most bags of rubbish around the course. The adults will look at repacking the the practise target butts first then move on from target 1.

Then the Sunday will be a club day round as per normal to test out the improvements

INTERCLUB ROUND 2

Posted by Franklin County Archers on July 19, 2015 at 2:55 AM Comments comments (4)

Hi guys next Sunday (26 Jul)  is the second round of the interclub series at Lakeview Archers. To keep Franklin at the top of the table we need as many of you as possible to make the journey. You don't have to be a great shooter as every point counts towards our total, so even if you only hit 1 target for the day that's better than not turning up. This is also a good opportunity to go and checkout another clubs course. Lakeview is a great spot with a friendly atmosphere, so get keen and come on down. Registration is at 8.30am. If you are needing transport just contact us via the contact page info as I'm sure there will be spare seats to go

IBO Round 3

Posted by Franklin County Archers on July 14, 2015 at 6:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Another great turn out by FCA members sporting their new club teeshirts at Whitford for round 3 of the IBO. Several club members managed to bag placings, so great stuff.

Next Sunday is the unmarked NZFAA round at Franklin, so no shooting unless you are participating in the round. This is a 2 x 14 target 3D round, so more shooting at rubber animals. Competing in these competitions are well within the reach of most of our members and the prime focus is to get out there and have fun. Registration is from 8.30am on the day.

10 May 2015, Team Franklin headed up to Dargaville for Round 1 of the IBO series (Round 2 to be held at Franklin, Sunday 14 June 2015) The weather settled with no wind and only light sprinkley showers here and there. Dargaville set up a challenging course with lots of black targets in even blacker holes. It was challenging for those who have just spent the last six months competing on marked rounds. Congrats to Dean Williams 1st, Daniel Williams 3rd, Dean Thomas 2nd, Phil Dicky 1st and Jill Gillette 3rd. — with Dean Williams, Phil Dicky, Jorja Gillette, Dean Thomas, Daniel Williams, Jillibean Gillette and Mike Wheatley.

Club Scoring System

Posted by Franklin County Archers on April 30, 2015 at 4:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Hello Franklin County Archers As of the 2015 AGM, Sunday 26th April, the committee has voted to resurrect the club scoring system. Which means all club day shoots results will be collected in, and added to your running total for the year. At the conclusion of the financial year, (The next AGM)all results will be tallied, The top 6 scores from each archers portfolio will be considered along with personal handicaps, for club awards within their respective division. This also means that we will be resurrecting our own end of year shoot for Top Club Archer too. This system allows us to track for you your improvements over the year with your scores, there is also a trophy for most improved come the end of the year. This registrar will not include the 28 target IFAA round at this stage. Club day score cards will be kept and stored by the Score Registrar (Jill Gillette). So here’s what you need to know…… Scores can be submitted on any day, providing the conditions listed below are met. You must be a financial member to have your scores added to the registry. Double scoring must be completed by shooting groups (that means 2 people score the round on separate cards. This is to ensure there are no discrepancies in scoring, giving each archer assurance that the scores handed in will be correct. All score cards must have relevant information recorded… Date, Full Name, Division (Bow shot), round (blue, or white course or IFAA course) which peg you shot from, and must have two signatures, one the archer, and the other the scorer for the round. Missing information makes it invalid, and won’t be accepted by the registrar. Scoring as follows… On three zone targets. First arrow Heart 20, Lung 18, Body 16 (arrows must be cutting into the zone, not just touching the line) Second arrow, Heart 14, Lung 12, Body 10. Third arrow Heart 8, Lung 6, Body 4. On two zone targets, first arrow 20 for a vital and 18 for a wound, second arrow 16 and 14, third arrow 12 and 10. Please ensure you are shooting from the correct peg before starting the round. The list of coloured pegs and divisions is on the pin notice board in the club house if you are unsure. As an extra incentive, we will be running a Heart Shot End of Year Award (complete with bragging rights) This entails listing the targets on the back of your score card that you have achieved a heart shot on, hopefully by the end of the year, a full set will be achieved, and a prize awarded. To submit your score cards, (with all the relevant details provided) please place in the score card box, situated under the chalk board in the club house, it will be clearly marked with a lid. The club course pegs may be changed by the course captain at any given time to keep us fresh and honest. The registrar will be informed prior to peg changes. Looking forward to logging everyone’s results as they come in, Registrar Jill Gillette
