Archery is the Art or Sport of Shooting Arrows with a Bow

Franklin County Archers was established in 1985 and we have over 90 active archers who shoot at our club. Franklin County Archers focuses on providing an inclusive individual and family atmosphere that caters for everyone no matter how young or old. Archery can be enjoyed by anyone as it does not require great strength or extreme physical fitness.

We are an outdoor field archery club and run 2 picturesque native bush courses, plus a practice range, at our outdoor facility in Bombay, Auckland. As well as our outdoor facility we also hire out a hall at the Pukekohe A & P Showgrounds where we hold indoor archery every Thursday evening.

We are also affiliated with the New Zealand Field Archery Association (NZFAA) and Auckland District Archery Association (ADAA). Our club is used as a venue for several competitions throughout the year (including 3D target archery) and also participates in an Interclub Series with other clubs situated in the region.

Our club has seen great success both Nationally and Internationally. At the 2022 NZFAA Indoor Nationals Franklin County Archers received 26 podium placings with 16 of those being gold medal winners. Something that is important to our club is encouraging young archers, and at the same 2022 event we had 13 Cub and Junior podium placings, the most of any other club in NZ. Our archers also collectively came away with 14 new National records. One of our members participated in the IFAA World Indoor Championships 2023 in Kent, England to shoot as part of the NZ Black Arrows (NZFAA Representative Team).
