GENERAL FAQ
What is the age range for trying archery?
Archery caters to a wide age range, making it a great sport for the whole family. We can accommodate 7 year olds up to 100+ (as long as the archer is big enough to safely draw a bow).
Can you cater to archers with special abilities?
Yes, the great thing about archery is it is a sport that is accessible to so many. However, sometimes in special circumstances we may require a parent/caregiver to assist. Our indoor range is the best place to start if you are interested in giving archery a go.
Do you offer one-on-one coaching?
Our instructors are there to get you started. If you would like one-on-one coaching thereafter, all you need to do is ask an Instructor and they will advise you on their private coaching fees.
How do I become a member of your club?
Check out our Membership page to find out more information about becoming a member with our club.
Can I use a crossbow?
No, as the bolts are unable to be retrieved from our bales and butts.
Where do you buy equipment from?
There are a few bow shops around and Franklin County Archers utilise Archery Warehouse in East Tamaki. Check out our Links page for more information.

What happens if someone doesn't follow instructions?
Due to the nature of archery as a sport, it is important that the instructions of our volunteers and instructors are adhered to at all times. Anyone who chooses not to follow instructions will be asked to stand down/stop archery for the safety of everyone.
How do I sign in at the outdoor range?
There is a QR code close to the office. You must scan the QR code upon arrival and fill in the Health and Safety form. If your phone does not have a QR code reader or you are unable to access this QR code for any reason, you can find a link to the Health and Safety form on our Outdoor Range page here.
INDOOR RANGE FAQ
How do I make a booking at your indoor range?
Email (new email) with your preferred time slot. See our Indoor Range page here for more information on times.
Can I book my indoor session/s in advance?
Yes. You can choose to book a number of sessions in advance, or some of our regulars choose to book for the following week before they leave the indoor range after their session. Our indoor sessions can fill up quickly, so we recommend you do book in advance to secure your spot each week.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
If you are unable to attend your Indoor session you must email us before 9am Thursday morning to ensure you are refunded your fee paid. Any bookings cancelled after 9am Thursday will forfeit any fees paid for that session. Continued ‘no shows’ may result in you being required to prepay future sessions that you wish to book.
What style of bows can I get instruction for?
Both compound and recurve, sighted and unsighted (compound bows must be under 60lbs to be used at our indoor facility).
Do I need my own equipment?
No, we have recurve equipment to hire to suit all ages. We cater to both left and right handed archers.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that has movement, in particular around the chest and arms. Nothing too baggy, no hoodies covering your head or with drawstrings, no headphones and closed in shoes are a must.

For now, we only have Thursday available at indoors due to the availability of our volunteers.
